The original Enniscrone Golf Club course was established in 1894 as a 9-hole layout, with the initial design attributed to Tom Simpson, a renowned golf course architect from England

While the original course was established in the late 19th century, it was in the 1980s and 1990s that Enniscrone truly began to evolve into the world-class facility it is today.

Designers – Eddie Hackett & Perry Dye:

  • Eddie Hackett (1931-2006), one of Ireland’s most respected golf course architects, played a major role in the modern development of the course. He was responsible for reworking and expanding the Enniscrone Golf Club course during the 1980s and 1990s.
    • Hackett’s contribution transformed Enniscrone into an 18-hole championship layout. His designs are noted for their integration with the natural landscape, and Hackett used the sand dunes, coastal hazards, and wide fairways to create a challenging and visually stunning course.
